"My son and I initially met with Kari in December of 2011 to plan for our first family trip to Norway in July of 2012. Although we knew we wanted to travel to the Kongsberg area to check family history as well as stay a few days in a rural setting, we were very unsure of all other travel plans. At this first meeting, Kari inquired about our preference for length of stay and areas of Norway that were most important for us to visit. By the time we left the Travel Headquarters office that afternoon, we had a tentative schedule for our 18-day trip. Over the next few months, Kari contacted me often with ideas and various options to choose from.
In the planning stages, it all seemed so far away, but July soon arrived, and we were ready to go! I found it very helpful for Kari and I to meet a few days before departure to review all aspects of the trip in detail: the itinerary, flights, tickets, passes, lodging, and transportation.
Since our family's return to Minnesota, we have had a chance to reflect on our awesome trip. One of the highlights for us was the lively and informative conversations we had with our hosts at the two mountainside cabins. Not only did we return with our host Ingar's recipe for Rommegrot but also his assurance that YES, they do still serve lutefisk in Norway at Christmas!" Ranae B.
I just wanted to say THANK YOU for putting together such a wonderful experience for our family in Norway. We all have agreed that we could not have asked for a better two weeks! I have gone over the pictures again and again trying to get that feel good feeling in my heart that I felt when we walked over the ground that our grandparents walked 150 years ago. Nothing can compare to that emotion, especially taking the journey with family. The country is so breathtakingly beautiful. I hope that we can go back again in the not too distant future. We also enjoyed having you as our traveling companion and consultant while we were there. – Wanda C.
Thanks for arranging the Norway trip. I had an incredible time, I'm so glad I went! And thanks so much for making the trip so accommodating for my dad. I know he really enjoyed it. I want to go again! – Denice S.
